Why do teens like to wear purple?

Not just girls but guys also. Not that I have a problem with it, it’s just that I’m curious. In my school, the majority of the students like to wear purple anything including shirt, shoes, I don’t know about pants, backpack. Why do they like purple so much, is it the new hit thing like skinny jeans and saggy pants? I think it’s because they like the Lakers but I’m not sure. I see them play basketball a lot, maybe that’s the reason. I asked some of them and they responded I dunno, I’m following what people like to wear. I want a more logic answer, but I’m not sure. It’s just not my middle school, I see lots of high school students wear it too so don’t think it’s just my school.
