Magic Tickets – Experience Basketball Like Never Before
The Orlando Magic with three other franchises entered the NBA in 1989. It was the first professional sports franchise in Orlando and was led by businessman Jimmy Hewitt and former Philadelphia 76ers General Manager Pat Williams. Matt Guokas was the team’s first coach. The team lost their first match with New Jersey Nets 111 – 106 on November 4, 1989 at the Orlando Arena (colloquially called as O-Rena). 2 days later, the Magic experienced their first victory against New York’s Knicks 118-110. The team showed their magic and Magic tickets became a rage.
1992 NBA draft changed the club’s history. The Magic selected Shaquille O’Neal from Louisiana State University, at the first overall pick. O’Neal being a big man, 7ft 1, in the center made a great impact on the team, leading it to a 41 – 41 record. Magic enjoyed the most improved franchise of NBA and O’Neal bagged an All-Star starter status with the 1992-93 NBA rookie of the year award. That year the Magic missed the year’s playoffs as they lost the tiebreaker against the Indiana Pacers at the 8th (and final) playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The 1994-95 season, after acquiring Horace Grant from Chicago Bulls as a free agent, Magic compiled the best record of 57-25 in the East and won the Atlantic division title. They defeated Boston Celtics, Chicago Pacers and Indiana Pacers in the playoffs to advance to the NBA finals, but they lost to Houston Rockets in the finals by 4-0.
During the franchise’s first five years in the NBA draft, they fared really well. Their selection of guard-forward Nick Anderson (1989), forward Dennis Scott (1990), center Shaquille O’Neal (1992), and guard Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway (1993) paved way for their success. It was these strong young boys that gave Magic its edge and took it to the 1995 NBA finals, subsequently raising the demand for the Magic tickets. O’Neal particularly was a major force in NBA; he ranked among the league’s top scorers in all the four seasons that he played with the team.
The Magic team has had at least six uniform changes till now. Bo Outlaw is the only player who has worn all the Magic Jersey designs. During the 2005-06 “Hardwood Classics”, he was the only player on the roster wearing the pinstriped jersey when it was the present uniform. He joined the club in 1997 which was the last season for the pinstripes. He repeated it in 2006 when they wore the home pinstriped jerseys from inaugural day.
Though it’s the first time that the team has made it to the playoffs since 2002-03 season. The last season 2006-07 was not for the team and its fans as they were knocked out in the first round itself. Things were shaken up in the off season when the head coach Brian Hill was replaced with former Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy. Rashard Lewis came over from the Seattle Super Sonics and if you wonder whether his nearly $120 million price tag is really worth it, then get yourself the Magic tickets and see the game live. Magic tickets can be bought online or over the phone through a broker. With Magic tickets, rest assured that your expectations of a world class game will be met head on.

What are some fundraising ideas for a highschool Basketball Team?
My school is small and can’t provide things for us like jerseys/shorts, bags, warmups, practice jerseys/shorts etc. Our team met with the coach, and we’re trying to find ways to raise money for these things. School is over in 2 weeks too. Any ideas?
As an ex-high school Basketball Coach, have a chore day or two over the summer. People love that stuff. You help your community and raise some money for your sport. Public relations dream let me tell ya! Players and parents line up chores for like a Saturday or a couple of Saturdays and take donations. You’d be surprised how much people will give you to do the simplest things. Good luck!
