In basketball, how do you overcome being shy and fearful?
Hi. I have SO MUCH potential, and I know it. When I sleep, I dream of the most amazing plays that I can actually perform. And when I play by myself or with a friend, I basically shine like a glowing star.
But…. Once i start playing with strangers, or tall people. I start to become really scared and shy. I can’t do anything. Every single time i get the ball. pass. pass. pass. pass. I never move except for defense. Plus because of the fact that I can’t move, I can’t think of anything else and my mind goes blank, which leads to a turnover in basketball.
How do I over come my fear of playing pick-up games and playing with tall and old people who MAYBE are better than me.
I feel so vulnerable, but when I do have the chance to express my creativity, I show immense talent.
Shyness is a learned behaviour to play a little game called, “poor little me.” Because you learned it, you can unlearn it. So stop the bulls**t and get on with your life.
