College Basketball Picks – Ten Top Tips of Winning Selections

With 347 teams in NCAA Division I to choose your basketball picks from, it is obvious you need some filters, as well as some strategies. Let’s look at ten ways to improve your winning ratio for college basketball picks.

You might begin by concentrating your basketball picks on just a few of the 32 conferences available. Rivalries are well documented and can give you some historical insight into what to expect of your basketball picks. For all college sports picks, in fact, you should always include at least a few teams looking to avenge last year’s defeat to a rival.

Early in the season, teams play outside their conferences. This can make handicapping your Ncaa Basketball picks difficult, but not impossible. Look for teams with a lot of returning players. Experience counts, especially during the first few weeks when teams are finding their legs and shooting range.

In college, team rosters are much more volatile than they are in the pros, and this can greatly affect your NCAA basketball picks. Pay close attention to injury reports, coaching changes, ineligibilities and scandals at the schools—anything that might throw a team off its stride.

The home court advantage cannot be over emphasized in college basketball picks. It is so strong, in fact, that an unranked team playing at home against a ranked team will often cover the spread, no matter how few points are given.

Coaches get teams fired up for important games. Your college basketball picks should include games that are “must wins” to retain in contention for tournament berths, and also home teams recently blown out on a road trip, who are looking for redemption in front of fans.

Many teams start the season strong, looking invincible and going undefeated for their first 8 to 10 games. Then the heartbreaking loss arrives. When you see this situation, some great college basketball picks are those teams playing their first game after a loss. The ability to rebound applies to more than working the boards.

Betting the underdog, especially at home, is a good strategy most of the time. But when you see top-ranked teams hit the road, don’t dismiss their chances to cover the spread, especially later in the season when more is on the line, such as conference titles. Make your basketball picks based on momentum as well as stats.

You should be extra careful whenever you see a point spread posted that seems impossibly large. The favorites are quite capable of winning over lesser teams by wide margins. If a spread looks too good to be true, it probably is. Take you college basketball picks elsewhere.

When conference play reaches its cruising altitude in mid-season, all the numbers associated with point spreads and over/under totals become more predictable, for bookmakers as well as you. This is the time to consider putting your NCAA basketball picks on a teaser parlay card. You get more points for underdogs, or give up fewer for favorites, and the totals can be adjust up or down, too. You can create a teaser parlay with as few as two or three basketball picks.

March Madness is tournament time, when it is do or die for all of your college basketball picks. Give special attention to little know underdogs. The top seeds are under more pressure and have more to lose, so the lesser know that are playing their hearts out for fun and the upset, often come through on the spread, if not winning outright.

Making college basketball picks can be a lot of fun and bring you excellent profits if you keep these ten tips in mind. Good luck with all of your NCAA sports picks this season!

Are Nba Basketball Cards good money investments?

I was thinking about getting back into collecting the basketball cards, but i was just wondering are they still worth investing your money into, or should i just save my money or invest in better things? Your input will be greatly appreciated.

How smart are you? How lucky are you? The sad fact is that virtually nobody collects sports cards as a hobby anymore. Like a lot of things, people buy them as an investment. You’re not going to sell that pristine Kobe rookie card to a collector, you’re going to sell it to someone who plans on reselling it to make even more money. Is he right about the value of the card, or are you? Whats worse, if you buy that pristine Kobe rookie card, will you be able to sell it and get your money back? This is not a need generated market. Anyone who buys the card from you is doing it because they think they can resell it for a profit. What happens when you buy that Kobe rookie card for $800 and nobody wants to buy it from you?

Mobile Applications- Increasing Productivity & Efficiency

Mobile applications are a rapidly developing segment of the global mobile market. They consist of software that runs on a mobile device and performs certain tasks for the user of the mobile phone. Also known as downloadables, mobile applications are common on most including inexpensive, entry-level models. Their wide use is due to the many functions they perform, including providing user interfaces for basic telephony and messaging services, as well as for advanced services such as Games and Videos. Other examples include tools for downloading and reading Blogs, such as Content Next’s application for MocoNews and the Opera MiniTM browser.

Communications: By swithching our mobile we can easily communicate with different people who reside out of our country. This helps us in making our relationship strong. Beside this mobile helps us in our Business through mobile we can send e-mails to our client.
-E-mail Clients
-IM Clients
– News/Information Clients
– On-Device Portals (Java Portals)
-Social Network Clients

Games :Mobile helps us a lot in killing our boredom, in other sense it can be called as a true friend. While accessing mobile we can play dozen of games as girls can enjoy Barbie games and boys can enjoy action games.
-Puzzle/Strategy (e.g., Tetris, Sudoku, Mah-jong, Chess, Board Games)
-Cards/Casino (e.g., Solitaire, Blackjack, Roulette, Poker)
– Action/Adventure (e.g., Doom, Pirates of the Caribbean, Role-Playing Games)
-Sports (e.g., Football, Soccer, Tennis, Basketball, Racing, Boxing, Skiing)
-Leisure Sports (e.g., Bowling, Pool, Darts, Fishing, Air Hockey)

Multimedia: Today mostly mobile has Multimedia feature which helps us in sending and recieving videos calls and MMS. It has super screensavers to make our screen look dynamic one.
-Graphics/Image Viewers
-Presentation Viewers
-Video Players
-Audio Player
-Streaming Players (Audio/Video)

Productivity: Now we don’t have to worry about forgetting our friends B’day as mobile has features like calenders ,notepads,Diary in which we can update our important dates and mark as reminders and thats all ,when our important date comes it alarm us.
– Calendars
– Calculators
– Diary
– Notepad/Memo/Word Processors
– Spreadsheets
– Directory Services (e.g., yellow pages)
– Banking/Finance

Mobile application development is the process by which applications are developed for hand held devices such as personal digital assistants, enterprise digital assistants or mobile phones. These applications are either pre-installed on phones during manufacture, or downloaded by customers from app stores and other mobile software distribution platforms.
A phone just makes and receives a call. But a smart phone provides advanced features; it will have an operating system installed which does all these task.

College Basketball Betting

It’s all about March Madness. The rush of excitement. The thrill of victory. The crushing agony of defeat. However, first teams must play out a full season before being selected. In the grand scheme of things, only a handful of the college teams are selected to the big dance. Most get there by winning their conference or the championship tournament for their conference. I bring this up, because it’s important to know. A successful sports bettor needs to know what teams are motivated and what teams are just going through the motions.

It would be a grave mistake to assume that a team with an average record is playing for nothing. Many teams play hard throughout the season, because they have a shot at the NCAA tournament even if they are low in the conference. Another fallacy that kills sports bettors is betting Ncaa Basketball like it’s the NBA. You have to remember that NCAA basketball is comprised of young adults, typically 18-21. Most don’t possess the ability to perform at a high level, to think under pressure and to rise to the occasion against all odds.

While colleges fill their basketball teams with the best talent they have available, that does not mean the team will have even one really good player. Some programs out there are just plain bad. Only a small sample of players at the college level will be drafted by the NBA. Most are just street balers going through their college years. College basketball players are more susceptible to emotional swings than NBA players. For this reason, you must pay attention to any recent news and events swirling around the team.

For those that don’t already know, college basketball works on the spread system. For example, let’s say you have UCLA playing at Duke and Duke is -8. You have two options. You can take Duke and lay the 8 points, which means Duke must win by more than 8 for you to win—8 is a tie and only wins on some parlay cards. Your other option is to take UCLA and the 8 points. As long as UCLA win or does not lose by more than 7, you win. If they lose by 8, you tie.

College basketball betting also features the totals line. Not every game played will have a totals line at every sports book. The totals line is the total number of points scored by both participants at an event. For example, if the totals line was 130, you could bet the over or the under. Take the over and you want both teams to combine for 130 or more points. Take the under and you want both teams to combine for 130 or fewer points. Totals lines in college basketball can be both profitable and tricky at the same time.

College basketball can be extremely profitable. To be a long-term winner, it’s important that you not only understand the game of basketball, but the college scene as well. Spend time looking for news and information about the team and players. Is there a scandal at the school? Did the team just come off of a miracle win? Events can swing college basketball greatly. Players are more apt to be swung by emotions. Good luck on the hardwood.

What are the popular sports cards that will sell well on Ebay?

I have a bunch of Baseball, Football, and Basketball Cards that I want to sell. I want to know what cards from each of these categories would sell well on Ebay.
I mean what Players from each sport would sell.

It really depends on how old they are and what shape they are in? Some cards are very rare, so they will go for more. They have magazines that tell what they are worth. Even some websites can give you that info. You can go on E-bay and see what others are asking for theirs. Rookie cards of great players go for a lot more of course. “commons” aren’t worth the cardboard they are printed. I’d sort through your cards, do some research, then you’ll have a better understanding of what price you want to get for them. Complete sets are worth more. also.

Magnificent Basketball With Milwaukee Bucks Tickets

You can be sure of getting more basketball for your buck with Milwaukee Bucks tickets. The Bucks have been charging onto basketball courts for a while now, regularly picking up wins and titles along the way. Today, they are a definite force to contend with on the court with a number of exciting new drafts on their team.

The Milwaukee Bucks are based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with its home turf based at the Bradley Center. The Bucks play for the National Basketball Association and are also part of the Central Division and the Eastern Conference. The Bucks have snagged one championship win, two conference titles and thirteen division titles till date.

A Big Start

Most teams that start out have a number of shaky games before they are able to get on the path to a championship. But the Bucks hit the ground running- formed in 1968; the Bucks were soon getting together a championship team by 1970. This was mainly due to the fact that the Bucks were able to draft some really big talents like, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Lew Alcindor. In 1971, the Bucks clinched a big championship win and would be one of the dominant teams in the NBA, through the seventies and the eighties.

By the mid-eighties, efforts were made to keep the team in Wisconsin and discourage out of town investors from buying up the Bucks. The team was a local favorite and sales of Milwaukee Bucks tickets were rather impressive. The team also got a new arena at this time and on its 25th anniversary, the Bucks also altered their logo. The original cartoon figure of a Buck was replaced by a more elegant and regal logo that seemed more fitting to the Bucks’ reputation.

What Goes Up Must Come Down

Strong sales of Milwaukee Bucks tickets and a team that was arguably one of the most elite in the NBA ,made the Bucks a team that seemed poised for bigger and better wins. But as is often the case, the chemistry that was going sour off, and the court began to affect performances on the court. Tensions between the current superstars of the team and the coach careened into a downward spiral that shocked the entire league, as the Bucks did a freefall, which cost them a chance in the playoffs.

Rather than take the downward slide in a passive way, the Bucks roared into action, initiating roster changes and working towards improving their game. The results were positive and by 2003, the Bucks seemed to be back in business and the demand was back for Milwaukee Bucks tickets. Despite pulling in a disappointing season in 2006-2007, fans are hopeful that the Bucks will be making some magic on the courts soon. This is mostly due to the fact that a number of fresh new talents have entered the team, including Yi Jianlian from China. Yi is a strong offensive player and it looks like the Bucks may be bidding for another championship win soon. Make sure that you are there to watch it all happen live. Get in touch with an authorized online ticket vendor and order your Milwaukee Bucks tickets.

How to Run a Ncaa March Madness Tournament 100 Square Office Pool

Every March millions of people across the United States gear up for the greatest tournament event in the world, March Madness. Family, friends, and co-workers all try their luck at the tournament bracket pick-em office pool, which will forever be the king of all office pools. Many people do not realize that there are other exciting office pools that can be ran for the March Madness Tournament. The information below gives step by step instructions on a version that I prefer to run for the Championship Game. This is the NCAA March Madness 100 Square Grid Office Pool.

Step 1

You will first need to print a copyof the square grid. You can do this by visiting the link at the bottom of this article. From there you will go to Office Pools and find the Ncaa Basketball 100 Square Grid. Once this is printed you are ready to begin the pool.

Step 2

Sell each square for a set dollar amount until all squares are full, a player may buy as many squares as they wish. Once the player pays for the squares they are to write their name in the squares of their choice. If you don’t feel you can sell 100 squares check out our 25 square grid and 50 square grid.

Step 3

Once all the squares are full it is time to set up the drawing. This can be done in many ways, listed below are 2 examples. After determining the drawing method, draw the numbers one at a time placing the numbers from left to right starting with the first gray square box in the top row, continue across the top row until the numbers are gone. After that is complete you will redraw the numbers, this time placing the drawn numbers in the gray square boxes in the left column, starting at the top. Example 1: Write the numbers 0-9 on pieces of paper and place them in a hat. Example 2: Get a deck of cards A through 10, the ace represents a one, the 10 represents a 0, 2-9 are face value

Step 4

Now is time for the fun!! Begin watching the game, at the end of each half match the last digit of each teams score with the grid. Example: At the end of the first half if the team listed up top has 37 and the team listed on the left side has 34. Go to the top row of numbers and find the number 7(last digit of 37) then go to the left column of numbers and find the number 4(last digit of 34) find where these two numbers intersect on the grid and the name in that square wins the first half.

Payout’s

There are a few different ways to split up the prize pool , make sure this is discussed before selling the squares. The most common method is to give the winner of each half 50% of the prize pool. It is possible that a player can win both halves and the whole prize pool. Be sure to discuss what is going to be done in case of an overtime, some people will just ignore the overtime score, some people will substitute the overtime score for the second half, and others will divide the prize pool in thirds. Once again to avoid problems make sure all of this is discussed before selling the squares.

How does this vary from the normal Super Bowl Squares?

The concept is the same, the difference is there are not four quarters in a College Basketball game but instead two halves, therfore there will only be 2 winners, one at the end of the first half and one at the end of the second half. The best time to run this pool is for the Ncaa Tournament Championship game, but it can be ran for any game of the season.

Advanced Concepts for Handicapping Boxing

Handicapping Theory for Boxing

By Law Gardner

Pregame Pro Handicapper

To those ignorant of the sport of boxing, logic would dictate that one generally has a 50/50 chance of selecting the winner of a boxing match. In a world where everyone is absolutely equal, the previous statement is quite logical. In the real world, especially as it pertains to the sport of boxing, the previous statement is foolish.

How does one accurately predict the victor of a boxing match? The answer: careful analysis.

Whether or not you’re an individual who enjoys the thrill of occasionally betting on a big fight, or someone who takes wagering on boxing quite seriously, the key to betting success is found in the following:

The ability to properly evaluate a boxer’s skill level, natural athleticism and psyche.

Researching the boxer’s statistics (i.e. number of overall fights, wins, losses, quality of opposition, amateur background, etc.), and then doing a head-to-head comparison with his opponent’s statistics.

The latter can be accomplished by simple online investigation (i.e. a boxer’s record, age, height, reach, opponents, etc. are all accessible on the internet), and with insight on how to properly interpret the information (which will be discussed later). However, the evaluation of a boxer’s skill level, athleticism and psyche is a bit more complex.

There are 9 major categories I rate on a scale from 1 to 100 when I’m analyzing a fighter’s abilities and psyche: reflex speed, technical ability, natural athleticism, punching power, boxing style, durability, overall condition, level of confidence & the “will to win” factor. It’s safe to say that professional boxers who rate high in all of these categories are either world champions, or will be soon. I’ll define the specifics of each category below:

Reflex Speed:

This category is arguably the single most important weapon in a boxer’s arsenal. It goes hand-in-hand with natural athleticism – it’s a quality that in it’s purest form cannot be taught or gained through repetition, but something an individual is either born with or not. The simplest explanation of reflex speed is the amount of time it takes your body to react to a signal from the brain. Reflex speed manifests itself offensively in the ability to beat an opponent to the punch, as well as defensively in the ability to react to an opponent’s punch before it lands.

Technical Ability:

It can be said that technical ability is a window to the soul of “the sweet science.” It is a set of offensive and defensive skills that can be learned and perfected through repetition and proper instruction. Those who do not possess a high degree of technical ability will not last long in the sport, but those who do have a far higher probability of a successful career. It is difficult to find a current or former champion who did not have an extensive amateur career. Boxing in the amateurs builds a strong foundation for the “must-haves” of a professional boxer – straight right, quick jab, solid hook, good balance, combination punching & a sound defense – all traits to look for when evaluating boxing talent.

Natural Athleticism:

I’m one who sincerely believes in the ideal that “all men are created equal,” with the exceptions of intelligence and natural athleticism. Much like reflex speed, natural athleticism is genetic, as opposed to a trait that can be gained through practice and repetition. When evaluating a boxer’s natural athleticism, look for fluidity of movement, explosive delivery of a punch, and a high degree of reflex speed.

Punching Power:

Boxing without knockouts would be like baseball without home runs. Some of the most famous names in boxing lore – Dempsey, Marciano, Foreman, Tyson, Hearns, Hagler – all possessed great punching power. Punching power is a highly coveted trait in boxing. It is a combination of proper technique, balance, reflex speed, natural athleticism and raw strength. In a matchup of boxers that appear to be similar across the board, yet one has a much higher percentage of knockouts, always go with the heavier puncher.

Boxing Style:

Just as professional football teams can be identified by their style of play – a running team, a defensive team, a dynamic passing team, etc. – boxers can be identified by their boxing style. When evaluating an upcoming fight, identifying a boxer’s particular style will give you an advantage. For example, if both fighters have a defensive, counter-punching oriented style, betting the “over” would be wise due to the overwhelming likelihood that the fight will go the distance. When 2 highly offensive knockout artists are facing each other in the ring, it’s logical to bet the “under”, because the odds are in your favor that a knockout will occur in the early to middle rounds.

Durability:

As a fighter progresses in his career and faces a higher level of competition, durability becomes a major factor. The higher the level of competition, the more likely it is that you will have to absorb more punches. Conditioning plays a huge roll in a fighter’s durability. When a fighter is in excellent condition, he is able to withstand more punches than a lesser-conditioned fighter. When evaluating a boxer’s durability, look for such things as the number of times he’s been knocked out, how many fights he’s gone the distance, as well as how he has responded to knock downs in previous fights (i.e. does he recover quickly, once knocked down does he stay down, etc.)

Conditioning:

Boxing is arguably the most physically demanding sport out there. It can be compared to running a marathon in which you are punched in the face every 20 yards. Far more fights are ultimately determined by which boxer is in better shape, rather than who has more talent. When evaluating a boxer’s level of conditioning, look to previous fights in which he may have been KO’d in the middle to late rounds, as well as an obvious drop in total punch output.

Confidence Level:

This aspect of a boxer’s psyche can have a tremendous effect on the outcome of a fight. I will point to the Mike Tyson versus Michael Spinks heavyweight championship fight in 1988 as an example. This fight was over before it began. The moment Spinks climbed through ropes for the pre-fight introductions, you could see in his eyes that he believed he was a dead man walking. As a result of his extreme lack of confidence, what could have been a great matchup turned into an ambush – a vicious knockout in the 1 st round. If you are able to ascertain that a boxer’s level of confidence is low going into a fight, betting on his opponent would be wise.

Will To Win:

It’s safe to assume that in the majority of boxing matches that take place, both fighters have a similar “will-to-win” level. However, in a situation where one boxer clearly has more at stake than his opponent – such as a scenario that a victory will put him in line for a title shot – it’s wise to consider this “X-factor” into your overall evaluation.

Now that you are equipped with the proper tools to evaluate a boxer’s skill level, natural athleticism and psyche, let’s turn our attention back to the importance of researching statistics.

This part of the evaluation process is far more straightforward than the evaluation of the previous 9 categories, in that it consists of a simple comparison between each fighter’s statistics. Research the statistics listed below, whether it be online or through the numerous boxing publications available, and then simply do a head-to-head comparison between the 2 fighters.

Wins & losses.

Knockout percentage (divide the total number of fights into the number of knockouts).

Total number of times a boxer has been KO’d

Age

Height

Reach

Weight

Quality of opposition (i.e. number of ranked opponents fought)

Amateur background (i.e. number of amateur fights)

Quality of Trainer/Management (a boxer’s trainer and management team plays a large role in the overall success of a boxer’s career).

Now that you are armed with the proper tools of research and analysis, the next big fight could not only be wildly entertaining, but profitable as well. Bet smart my friend.

In the new Yahoo Sports! Basketball Box scores, they have two new categories “BA” and “BS”. Can someone tell me what they stand for? I’m thinking it has something to do with blocks, but I’m not sure.

BA is blocks against, how many times the player’s shot was blocked

Gift Ideas for Boyfriend Who is a Sports Fan

Many guys love sports because of the excitement of the adrenaline rush they get when watching one competitor take on another. It may be an individual or a team. The thrill of competition is something that men enjoy, whether they actually play sports themselves or just watch from their living room couch.

Maybe you’re not much of a sports fan yourself and you’re generally clueless about teams, players and statistics, but that’s okay. There are plenty of gift ideas for boyfriends who are big sports fans that will impress him. You don’t really need to know much about his favorite sport, all he wants from you is for you to understand that he loves it. When you present him with a gift that celebrates one of his favorite things in life, he’ll really know that you care about his interests.

Okay, so since there are several sports that a man may like, I’m going to present some ideas for three of the most popular ones. Feel free to use these ideas or come up with some of your own.

Football – these suggestions refer to American style football that is popular in the U.S. and not European football (soccer).

An official NFL football – whether he likes to play some casual football on the weekend with the guys, or just enjoys holding onto it and tossing it around while watching the game, a real NFL football just like the pros use on the field is a winner.

A Great Moments NFL DVD – there are many of these that highlight real football plays, players and coaches that offer a behind the scenes look at the game.

Authentic NFL Jersey – find out what his favorite football team or player is and get him his own authentic team jersey. You can get him either an individual player’s jersey or personalize a team jersey with his own name.

Basketball – this is a sport where maneuvering and high jumping in order to get the ball into the net creates lots of action.

A Basketball Throw Blanket – he can stay warm underneath a throw blanket decorated in the colors and images of his favorite team. Throws are very decorative and can be used to cover a couch or bed.

LeBron James Basketball Shoes – LeBron James is one of the best players in basketball and also one of its biggest stars. Your guy can be walking around in style wearing a pair of designer shoes endorsed by LeBron.

Baseball – your guy will sit there watching inning after inning and get totally caught up in number of hits, bases stolen, pitcher throws and umpire calls.

An Authentic MLB Baseball Cap - baseball caps became famous because they are a part of every team’s uniform. If he enjoys wearing generic baseball caps, then he’ll really like getting one that sports the logo of his favorite team.

Baseball Cards – there are lots of baseball card collectors, and part of the fun is buying a box of cards that just may contain a really valuable player card. The two main card vendors are Topps and Upper Deck. You can get him a current collection of cards or an older set. Read reviews of each set to get an idea of what you’re getting.

He weighs less than 200 pounds and is 6 feet and three inches tall.

Arriving from Santa Clara to join the Phoenix Suns in 96, he stood overshadowed by Jason Kidd. In his first two seasons, he averaged three assists and less than 10 points a game. There was only 11 games that he started in within this time.

Dallas picked him up in 1998 and it is there that he went to all-star status. He returned to the Suns in 2004 when he went to free agent statue. Now the Suns would not want to think of what it would be like to not have him.

Steve Nash seemed to find what he needed, when working with the coach Mike D’Antoni. His game average took a turn for 19 points and 11 assists a game. He improved on his three pointers and layups, as well as getting himself the MVP status for two years in a row.

One of the times he won MVP was in 2004-05 and the other was in 2005-06, while helping the team become one of the best teams in the NBA. Although his scoring in assists and points increased in 2006-07, it appears that the Steve Nash rookie card, continues to not get the recognition deserved.

The value of his basketball card remains way undervalued for the accomplishments he has made. When his card will increase in value remains a mystery. Presently, people can enjoy purchasing his card for much less than it really is worth, until at least they realize that he deserves a much higher price value for his card.

How much are my 1996 Upper Deck basketball cards worth?

I was looking through some old stuff when i found a pack of 9 Upper Deck basketball cards well kept in a plastic folder-type thing. Names include, Penny, Horry, Kerr, Schrempf, Thompson, Ceballos, Anthony, Edney, O’Bannon, Zidek, Hill, Grant, and Thomas. Anyone know how much theyre worth or where I can find out?

I don’t think you have much there, but go to eBay and search for your cards to see what they’re selling for. Also you can pick up an Baseball Card magazine and look them up in there – you should be able to find the magazine at places where you can buy baseball cards.

Bridget8 Meet Singles idea. Get in the jeep and head to the country and find a river and rent a kayak and shove it into the water and go kayaking for the whole day.

Softball or tennis. Either way you need to practice a lot and get in shape. You should start jogging and stretching a lot. Softball and tennis are both really fun! I personally think tennis is the easiest sport I’ve ever done so you could try that. Softball is hard if you don’t practice but it’s full of action. Lots of running, sliding, hitting and catching. Try them all. Good luck.
