I play point guard and shooting guard in basketball. I am pretty much a catch and shoot type of player. I have trouble attacking the basket and whenever I try to attack the basket, I get my shot blocked. I am also short, 5′5 & 142 pounds. Golden State Warriors shined in 1975 NBA Playoffs

The National Basketball Association features the best players in the world coming together to put their talents to the test against each other. These teams play through a grueling 82 game schedule before squaring off in the playoffs.

During the 1970s the NBA was trying to change some things up a little bit with the formatting in the playoffs. The NBA decided that they would have 5 teams from each conference make the playoffs. With this format, they top 3 teams would have an automatic bye out of the first round of the playoffs and the remaining teams would square off to decide who got to play the top seed in each half of the bracket.

The top seed for the Western Conference was the Golden State Warriors. In the Eastern Conference the top seed was earned by the Boston Celtics.

There was a different system of elimination during the play-in round of the tournament as well. The 4th and 5th seeds would play each other in a very short series. The series was just best of 3 games and the first team to win 2 games would advance. Seattle managed to oust Detroit in the first round in the Western Conference while Houston beat out New York in the first round of the Eastern Conference.

The Warriors would take on Seattle in the Western Conference semifinals and they had a solid series. Seattle managed to steal two games away from Golden State and pushed the series to 6 games. Unfortunately for Seattle, the Warriors were just too good and they won the series in the 6th game.

The other series in the Western Conference side of the bracket featured Chicago and KC-Omaha. The Bulls were too good for their opponents and they also won the series in 6 games en route to advancing to play against Golden State in the Western Conference Finals.

The Western Conference Finals were intense and the series dragged out to the limit. The Warriors and Bulls battled through the 7th game before the Warriors came out on top against the Bulls to advance to the NBA Finals.

The Boston Celtics were too strong for Houston and easily took the series in 5 games. Washington and Buffalo had a solid series that went to the limit. This was the only series that went to 7 games on the Eastern Conference side of the bracket and was very exciting. When all was said and done Washington came out on top and played against the Celtics to see who would go to the Finals to take on the Warriors.

Boston was certainly favored going into the matchup, but Washington was not ready to give up. They were strong throughout the series and managed to oust the Celtics in 6 games. This 4-2 series victory gave Washington the opportunity to play against Golden State in the Finals.

Unfortunately the opportunity for Washington did not work out the way they hoped it would. They played hard, but they were swept easily by Golden State in 4 games to make the Warriors the NBA Champs.

I know you’re banking on these guys coming out having a great season as they are much capable of doing, But let’s be realistic, NONE of those players mentioned has yet played a full season, and age isn’t on their side to play a full season this year either. Tracy is already hurt, Battier is going to start the season on the bench due to injury, Arenas won’t play until January if that. You’ll be lucky to get 30 games out of him for real. Simmons hasn’t been the same player since he left the Clippers.Yao Ming….enough said! I like Hinrich, though he’s going to be giving up tics to Rose. Sessions is not going to have that breakthrough season everyone thinks he will. Terry, Odom, Wallace, and Lee will do their thing as usual. I really like Lee, he’s a beast. If I was you I would try to sell high with Tracy, see if you can sucker someone with a 2 for 1. Check the free agency to see if there is a more reliable PG/SG available other than Sessions. Like Fisher, Carter, Stevenson, Williams, and if you’re really lucky in the free agency, you might find Blake, Uldrich, or even Conley Jr. Mayo won’t win that spot right away. As far as your stats go. You need big men on your team you’re going to hurt in the rebound and blocks categories. You FG% is going to hurt, and you need another person who can shoot the 3 ball until Gilbert comes back.
With this team you’re going to making moves almost everyday trying to find the right chemistry. In a H2H league I don’t see you making the playoff top 6. In a roto league i see you hovering 5th or 6th place.

Just my opinion and my honest one no doubt.

NCAA College Basketball: History of the Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies field a Basketball Team that plays at the Division 1 level of college basketball. The team plays in the Pac-10 conference. Over the years the team has managed to field teams that have been solid, but they have never been quite what was hoped for by the fans.

The team has never won a National Championship in the history of the school. They have had success in the NCAA Tournament at times, but they have never been able to go past the Final Four portion of the NCAA Tournament.

Despite the fact that the team has never found the success on a national level that they hoped for, they have been a successful school. They have won many, many conference championships over the years to show their success.

The success really started in the 1920’s for the team. The team was easily the most dominant of all of the teams in their conference in that decade and was able to bring him the conference championship 4 times in that span.

That start in the 20’s really paved the way for even more success in the 30’s. The team started off the 30’s with a stretch of three straight conference championships from 1930-1932. Those three straight conference championships contributed to the 6 total championships that they had over that decade. That decade may have been the most successful decade for the team in their history.

Although people were winning conference and national championships before the NCAA Tournament came around, they weren’t as meaningful. The NCAA Tournament brings a certain excitement to basketball that was never found before it was created. The Huskies got their first taste of that excitement in the 1940’s.

In 1943 the team won the conference championship and managed to qualify for the NCAA tournament. This was the first of 15 appearances that the school has made in the tournament over the years. Unfortunately the team was not able to advance to the 2nd round of the tournament.

The 1950s brought tremendous success for the team. In 1951 and 1953 the team managed to qualify for the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. In 1953 the team even managed to go all the way to the final four before they fell.

In 1984 the team found a ton of excitement in the tournament. The team had won the conference championship and went into the tournament with some momentum. They managed to advance not only past their first opponent, but their second as well. This left the team in the Sweet 16 for the first time in the history of the school.

The team has recently become even more successful. Over the last 15 years the team has managed to qualify for the NCAA Tournament 7 times. It seems like just about every time that the team makes the tournament they are able to make a run. Of those 7 appearances they have won at least one game in the tournament 5 times and they have advanced to the sweet sixteen 4 times. The last took place last season and left the team excited for what might come in 2011.

Just Play Basketball (sick dunks, moves..)

Basketball is all about how you move. Actually making a basket is not that difficult of a skill to master and if that was all basketball was about then it would be a simple game. However, what makes basketball exciting are all the different moves.

There are four moves that you have to master in order to ever master the game. These four moves together will give you the skills you need to be a great player.

Move #1: Dribble

Dribbling is the way you bounce the ball down the court on your own. There are many regulations regarding dribbling. It is very important to know and understand the rules regarding dribbling.

Dribbling is a skill you must be able to do efficiently. When you are not a good dribbler the opponent may be able to easily take the ball from you or otherwise knock it lose.

You also have to be able to move efficiently when dribbling so you are not running into people on the court when you are dribbling the ball.

Move #2: Rebound

Rebounding is the move made after a basket has been made or attempted. Being able to rebound means you can get control of the ball. You need to be able to rebound a missed shot so your team gets the point. If you miss the rebound then the other team can steal the ball and you lose the chance to score.

Move #3: Pass

Passing is another way to get the ball down the court and the only way to get the ball to the other players on your team. There are a variety of different passes and you should learn all of them.

Passing has to be efficient and accurate. A bad pass usually means a lost ball and losing the ball means losing a chance to score.

Move #4: Block

Blocking is an important move for both defense and offense. Every player has to know how to block opposing players. They are either going to be blocking against scoring or blocking to allow their own player down the court.

Good blocking is essential to scoring because without blocking a player can not get close enough to score. Players should practice blocking in a variety of situations.

These four moves are all important to the game. Without one of them a game is lost. Each player has to be able to efficiently pull off each move on the court.

Good practice and good coaching will help players to become efficient in each move, but ultimately it is the player’s drive and dedication that will allow him or her to master each move and become the best player they can be. With a team of players who are dedicated and who have mastered these moves, winning is in their reach each and every time they play. Besides winning, having these skills makes players feel good about themselves and that goes a long way towards making a team that is fun to be a part of.
